Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:Rfp)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Continuous unconstructive edits from IP users this month (specifically this Ip user[1], either unreferenced edits or subtle vandals such changing reference dates. Hotwiki (talk) 08:48, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement for Arab-Israel conflict topic area. Left guide (talk) 12:13, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined ARBPIA or not, we have a higher threshold for protecting AfDs, especially as they are only temporary, and I don't see this being disrupted. Daniel Case (talk) 03:26, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent, disruptive addition of unreferenced genres. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 13:01, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Vandalism by a user led to all text and images being deleted on the 12 February. page must be given extended confirmed protection. Bird244 (talk) 14:27, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. I am One of Many (talk) 15:13, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked: 2407:4D00:7C01:116D:0:0:0:0/64 (talk · contribs) blocked by Jake Wartenberg. For two weeks. Daniel Case (talk) 03:49, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Several edits have been made that present as fact allegations from a lawsuit that has not yet been adjudicated. (Trotter v. United Lutheran Seminary) While the defendant's motion for dismissal by summary judgment was denied that does not indicate future rulings or verdicts. The edits have also made libelous statements regarding one, non-public individual in particular. 184.14.210.198 (talk) 16:09, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Actually, this might be better handled at WP:BLPN. Daniel Case (talk) 04:01, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Someone who's wrong on the internet (talk) 16:39, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked: 167.248.250.34 (talk · contribs) blocked by Drmies. For a year. Daniel Case (talk) 04:22, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Same IP-hopper returned when previous protection expired. Skywatcher68 (talk) 16:46, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedWarn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. I have them on level 2. I also suspect, since their edits to other articles haven't been reverted so much, that maybe they're a good-faith user who might be worth reaching out to first. Daniel Case (talk) 04:21, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Requesting an Extended confirmed protection, as multiple users and IPs have engaged in edit warring over the past few weeks. — AFC Vixen 🦊 17:27, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fully protected for a period of three days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 04:28, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite create protection: Repeatedly recreated – Repeatedly recreated. Now the subject of repeated requests at DRV to recreate. Recommend ECP protection so established reviewer can approve (but is not likely to approve). Robert McClenon (talk) 17:43, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Creation protected indefinitely. Daniel Case (talk) 04:29, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Requesting an Extended confirmed protection. Consistent reverting to a band that does not belong in the The Jacksons chronology section for previous album. The album that is consistently put back on the list is from Jackson 5 and not from the band The Jacksons. Needs to be locked for further consistent back and forth reverting mess. Name13013 (talk) 17:54, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Slow editwarring. - FlightTime (open channel) 18:09, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing and sockpuppetry. Kajmer05 (talk) 18:21, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: The page "Kakan Rajputs" has been subject to persistent vandalism and disruptive edits over the past few days. Some users have repeatedly inserted false or unsourced information, removed well-cited content, and engaged in edit wars despite warnings. This has led to a continuous need for reversion and moderation, affecting the reliability and credibility of the page. ZypheriZ (talk) 19:22, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 19:25, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content. Waxworker (talk) 20:33, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: The GA status of this article about one of the UK's most notable schools has been nullified by persistent additions of unsourced trivia and PoV and general interference over the years by IP editors. School articles attract a lot of nonsense. There is a project to restore this article to GA but it firstneeds first to be long-term protected. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations. (CC) Tbhotch 22:09, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Over the past couple of days, I've edit warred back-and-forth with an IP over the fact that Griffin Peebles participated in the Abu Dhabi round instead of Dan Skocdopole. The IP has continued to revert my edits, even after listing multiple proofs on the article's talk page. I would like to request at least a temporary semi-protected page status. For more details and context, please check this discussion at the ANI here. SportscarFan2004 (talk) 23:11, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism/disruptive editing by IP users. I've tried to get to the bottom of what their issue is on their talk page; rather than answering, they continue the disruptive editing. Swinub 23:27, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Nothing much to edit here, last 50 edits were either reverted or a revert. Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 00:19, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    • No page link found...

I would like to request if my son's page could be restored. I just learned that since his passing in 2018 that the page he created prior to is no longer found. I am his father and would like to update it and protect it for all time. Please let me know if you are able to assist or where I should look for such.

    Blessings, Ron
